The New Growth Agenda: Philanthropy's Role in Expanding Opportunity for All
Economic growth does not guarantee opportunity for all. Amid historic fiscal pressure, technological disruption, and demographic change, countries pursuing ambitious plans to transform their economies face an urgent challenge: ensuring growth expands opportunity equitably and sustainably.
This keynote explores how countries can build the systems that enable inclusive growth, and the role of catalytic philanthropy. Drawing on examples from Asia, Africa, and across the Global South, Hari Menon will explore how countries are building the conditions for inclusive growth: resilient food systems that strengthen local economies; education and skills that expand economic opportunity; and inclusive digital and financial systems that enable more people to participate in the economy. AI is opening new possibilities across each of these areas, not as a standalone solution, but as an accelerator of progress.
None of this is about any single technology or intervention. Progress depends on systems that are inclusive, well-governed, and mutually reinforcing. This session will explore how catalytic philanthropy can help ensure all people can contribute to—and benefit from—growing economies, moving countries faster toward their development ambitions.
